What we do
The RNLI
is the charity that saves lives at sea. We provide a 24-hour
lifeboat search and rescue service around the coasts of the UK and
RoI, as well as a seasonal lifeguard service on many of the busiest
beaches in England and Wales.
The RNLI also works to promote sea and beach safety.
Who we are
Volunteers are the heart of the RNLI. We rely on more than
40,000 volunteers - on lifeboats, at stations, on beaches, and in
fundraising.
Some crew
members and most lifeguards are full time. They work with other
staff to ensure comprehensive safety coverage around our islands.
The RNLI is an independent charity with a board of volunteer
trustees.
How to support us
The RNLI is an independent charity, and does not receive any
funding from the UK government. Our volunteer lifeboat crews and
our lifeguards can’t save lives at sea without your support.
Lifeboats need to be designed, built, fuelled and maintained,
and our crews trained and equipped. Lifeguards also need
training and equipment. Can
you help?
