Meeting with Councillors

Date: 16 December 2011

Open Children in Care Council Care Leavers Meeting with Counsillors

The Children in Care Council are organising a special  informal meeting with Cllr David Simmons (Chair of the Corporate Parenting Panel) and Cllr Peter Evans (West Sussex County Councillor with responsibility for Youth Development Service), and are offering a warm invite to any interested Care Leavers or OLAC (16 or over)  who would like to attend.

The meeting will take place at Littlehampton Youth Wing, Littlehampton Academy, Elm Grove  Rd, Littlehampton, BN17 6AH on Tuesday 17 January 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

The meeting will be an informal chance to meet with the councillors, and members of the Children in Care Council, and find out more about the Councillors roles.  This will also be an opportunity to put forward ideas for issues that you would like the Children in Care Council to look into over the next year. You don't have to be a member of the Children in Care Council to attend, and the meeting will have an informal style, however the Children in Care Council are always looking for new members who are keen to make a difference to the services used by those in Care and Care leavers, so this will provide a perfect opportunity to do so.

Refreshments and food will be available and I am really keen that as many people can take part in the meeting as possible, therefore (technology allowing) there will be an opportunity to "Skype in" to the meeting for a question and answer session  for those young people for whom distance or travel may be an issue in them attending (for example those at University or out of borough). For more information regarding Skyping in please contact myself on 07850 251372 or email toby.wilson@westsussex.gov.uk.

I am also able to offer transport for those that may need it, or reimbursement of reasonable transport costs (again for more information please contact me by email or phone).

I really hope this will be a well attended meeting and provide an opportunity for Care leavers to have a voice in services that are provided for them.
