West Sussex Youth Parliament represent local young people at
the House of Commons
Members of the UK Youth Parliament will be
experiencing life on the famous green leather benches of the House
of Commons Chamber on Friday 4 November, when over 330 young people
will have the opportunity to debate the issues that matter the most
to them today.
The Members (known as MYPs), work year round
to represent the views of young people in their area. West
Sussex Youth Service will be present in the House of Commons’
debates; with over 60,000 young people having voted in advance on
the topics they would like to see discussed.
The Youth MPs attending from West Sussex are:
- Liam Dallamore - Ifield Community College, Crawley.
- Lola Cole - Steyning Grammar School.
- Dominic Stannard - Worthing College.
- Samuel Theodoridi - St Philip Howard Catholic
School.
Over 60,000 young people across the UK took part in an online
poll to decide which issues will be debated on 4 November.
Among the topics being discussed will be:
- the provision of public transport for young
people;
- a graduate tax as an alternative to tuition fees
and
- zero tolerance towards bullying in schools.
The event forms part of Parliament Week, and the young people
will also have the opportunity to meet Members of Parliament and
other national influencers.
