The Participation team are based at Ferring Rifers Youth and Community
Centre, and their role is to help empower young people to learn new
skills that will equip and influence decision making. This will bring
about change in them, others, their services and their communities.

Young people in West Sussex are offered opportunities for participation through projects specifically designed to
encourage and develop skills and confidence to participation. Initiatives such as the Youth Opportunities Fund, Locality Youth
Forums and the Children in Care Council offer a real and active way for young people to have their voices heard and influence
opportunities and services available to them.
For example, by having a democratic voice in the recruitment, interviewing
and selection of workers, carrying out research into local needs and informing local councils of the needs of young people
to ensure these are included in policy decisions.
