The chances of being a victim of violent crime in West Sussex are low. However, you can make yourself less likely to become a victim if you take a few sensible precautions.
The World Cup breaks down social and cultural barriers and presents
an opportunity for the nation to come together to enjoy ourselves and celebrate our mutual love of football.
For
many, watching football goes hand in hand with drinking alcohol and it is easy to get carried away and drink more than we
would usually.
The reality is that the more alcohol you consume, the more vulnerable you become – regardless of
whether you are male or female. Evidence shows that people who have been drinking are more at risk of being the victim (and
perpetrator) of criminal damage, violent crime, robberies and sexual assaults.
Find out who's doing what in readiness
for the World Cup by visiting the official sites for The
F.A. (Football Association), the FIFA World Cup
website and UEFA (official website for European
football).
1 in 3 rapes occurs when the victim has been drinking.
There is a great deal
that we as individuals can do to increase our safety. By taking a few simple precautions will reduce the likelihood of becoming
a victim of crime.
