Go green in 2010!
Make reducing your carbon footprint a New Year’s resolution says the Travelwise team.
Ways to go green
The team suggests a number of green ways to travel that can also save money, such as:
• Walking or cycling to work or school is both healthy and reduces your carbon footprint significantly
• If you're over 17 years old, car share schemes can cut travel costs by 50%. You can register for free with a car sharing scheme at http://www.westsussexcarshare.com/Default.asp?uxi=&cr=check
• Using public transport to get to work or school can help you avoid congestion and parking costs in town centre locations
• If you’re aged between five and 19 and in full time education then you can apply for a 3in1 card, which gives you cheaper bus travel and discounts at many shops and attractions, as well as acting as proof of age
• Take part in environmental campaigns such as the Government’s ‘Act On CO2’ initiative and try and drive five miles less a week if you're over 17 years old. For more information visit http://actonco2.direct.gov.uk
