This is an advance notice to gain interest in the March 2012 Youth Cabinet and UK Youth Parliament elections!

Other forms and packs will be available in due course, but until then, here's a candidate form (under 'related documents') for any young people who are interested. If you wish to complete the form online please follow the link at the bottom of the page or under 'Related links' on the right hand side of the page.

About the Youth Cabinet

48 Young people from across the county, giving young people in West Sussex a voice.

The process: You will stand for election in one of 24 areas. 2 candidates with most votes in each area are elected to Youth Cabinet.

The responsibility: Monthly Youth Cab meetings around the county (travel refunded), getting an insight into your constituents concerns and spending government money on young people’s local projects.

Opportunities … get involved with: Eco-Schools, film making, radio shows, drug awareness campaigns, European Youth Ambassadors, projects with ‘hard-to-reach’ groups and lots lots more.

About the UK Youth Parliament

500 young people from across the UK, giving young people a voice nationally about issues that affect them. The UKYP is running national campaigns on Recycling, Concessionary Travel and University Fees, to make real social change.

The process: 4 UKYP reps for West Sussex. Stand for election in 1 of 4 areas*. 2 candidates with most votes elected as MYPs.

The responsibility: South East regional meetings are held every 2 months. Will represent approximately 23,000 young people, should hold MYP ‘surgeries’ as often as possible to listen to their views.
